Efektivitas Media Word Search dalam Meningkatkan Penguasaan Mufradat Bahasa Arab Siswa MAN 1 Lamongan

Vocabulary mastery (mufradat) is a crucial foundation in learning Arabic, serving as the basis for the four language skills. In reality, classroom learning is often constrained by students' low ability in mastering vocabulary. This condition is aggravated by the use of conventional teaching methods, which makes students quickly bored and less motivated. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Word Search media in improving Arabic vocabulary mastery among tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Lamongan. The research was motivated by students’ limited vocabulary mastery, which hindered their performance in the four Arabic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Conventional teaching methods made the learning process monotonous and less engaging. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one group pretest–posttest design. The subjects were 35 purposively selected students. The research instrument was a 20-item vocabulary test validated by experts. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to determine the significance of differences between pretest and posttest scores. The findings revealed an increase in the mean score from 73.43 to 98.43, with a 25-point improvement. The Wilcoxon test yielded a Z-value of -5.261 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference. The Word Search medium effectively enhanced students’ memory, motivation, and engagement. It also fostered an enjoyable, active, and competitive learning atmosphere, leading to a significant improvement in vocabulary learning outcomes.
