Tantangan Pendidikan Agama Islam di Era Modern dalam Perspektif Psikologi Agama

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a central role in shaping the spirituality, morality, and character of students, especially amidst the dynamics of the modern era, which is full of psychosocial challenges. From a psychology of religion perspective, religious education is not only a cognitive and affective process but also touches on deeper psychological aspects, such as self-identity formation, emotional regulation, and the search for meaning in life. The modern era is characterized by secularization, individualism, and hedonism, which have the potential to cause spiritual and existential crises among the younger generation. This article aims to analyze the challenges of Islamic Religious Education from the perspective of the psychology of religion and offer solutions and strategies. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a library approach. The results indicate that the challenges of Islamic Religious Education include value disorientation, psychological stress due to digital media, and a crisis of religious identity. The solutions offered include a learning approach based on spiritual experiences, strengthening empathetic teacher-student relationships, and revitalizing the curriculum to support students' emotional and spiritual balance.
