Abstract

The weaknesses of Islamic education in Indonesia today are mainly due to factors related to the control of systems and methods. Schools need to have new ideas in the learning process. Islamic religious education is considered boring if monotonous methods are applied. Schools that have unique characteristics will become attractive in their own right, distinguishing them from ordinary schools (distinctive features). Therefore, Integrated Islamic Schools that innovate in this area will have a very positive impact on children's interest in enrolling in Integrated Islamic Schools. The method used in this study is a descriptive grand theory. Data collection tools include observation, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research findings indicate that the innovation in Islamic education at SMP IT Al-Azhar is excellent, and the innovation is running smoothly with the support of the community. Scheduled activities serve as a form of support for the innovation that has been initiated. The students' enthusiasm in implementing the innovation is a manifestation of its success, and the development of outstanding student character is a testament to its effectiveness.
